BARCELONA BEER COMPANY Taproom, Barcelona

Elevating the pub culture to a gastronomic experience

Barcelona Beer Company is a draft beer brand with local accent, created and produced in Barcelona and with a very high interest on their brand image and identity. At deardesign we were honoured by conceiving its first tap room in the city.

Our aim was to redo the concept of a pub, by giving it a more luminous and Mediterranean appearance. The effect was to welcome a broader public, beyond craft beer consumers, elevating the experience of tasting high quality beer and food.

The new idea was born from merging the strengths of different kinds of beer consumption establishments. The public and social character of traditional taverns and the relaxed atmosphere that characterises German beer gardens, with its large spaces where people are used to share long tables.
This is achieved through the creation of different areas of consumption, in all of them able to enhance the social and sharing character of the location. A bar with stools, grandstands and long tables with brick walls and arches referring us to the historic traditional taverns.

The new concept helps to potentiate the essence of Barcelona and the mediterranean taste. This is why burnt clay bricks were chosen as the main material of the project, as also used traditionally in the Catalan architecture. This ceramic coats the counter, a prominent element of the project where the beer taps are located, and the entire wall behind it.
